  • Sample responses 
  • Techniques for answering questions
  • Ideas for honing listening analysis responses and writing in exam settings
  • Practice analysis questions

LBH Minis: Repetition, Variation, Contrast

Three mini workshops to explore repetition, variation and contrast. These workshops will provide in depth discussion of the three compositional devices as well as worked examples and a worksheet to practice analysis skills after the workshop. These sessions will be recorded for later access.

Exam Preparation Workshop 2024

Presented by Jenny Gillan, author of ‘Listening Beyond Hearing’ and teacher at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School.

For students and teachers of VCE Music Performance.

This Exam Preparation afternoon will focus on the Analysis skills required for Section A of the written exam. 

It will cover: 

    • Required vocabulary for the analysis of the elements of music;
    • Linking the elements of music to the creation of musical character;
    • Comparison of interpretation questions; 
  • Exam techniques and strategies.
